The history of
Haynes Ambulance of Alabama, Inc. spans over the past three and a half decades.
What began, by Mr. W.A. Haynes, as a simple service of emergency and
non-emergency transport service in Wetumpka, Alabama, with but two
ambulances and eight medics in 1969, has now grow to the largest locally-owned private ambulance
service in Central Alabama.
In March of 1977,
Mr. Haynes’ oldest son, Tony, opened in
Montgomery County, Alabama
and thus began Haynes Ambulance of Alabama, Incorporated. In 1987, Haynes Ambulance expanded to
Pike County, Alabama
(Troy,
Alabama). In 1993, Haynes Ambulance expanded to
Bullock County
(Union Springs), Alabama. Additionally, there have been operations
in Autauga, Dale, and Macon
Counties (Alabama)
since the inception of Haynes Ambulance.
Today, our
operations cover two counties in Central Alabama
(Elmore and Montgomery) as well as Maxwell Air Force Base; additionally, we
have a variety of mutual aid agreements with various surrounding cities /
counties (municipal and private agencies).
Our coverage area is approximately
1415 square miles, from 3 strategically located stations throughout our
service area. Approximately 75 full-time and part-time Emergency Medical
Technicians (EMT) and Paramedics care for emergency and convalescent
patients, serving a population of over 300,000 citizens with over 15 ground
ambulances. Every EMT and Paramedic is trained in the latest
procedures, and every ambulance carries the latest in cutting edge,
life-saving technology. To ensure we
maintain our fleet of ambulances, we have an on-site fleet maintenance
facility staffed by a full-time mechanic trained in ambulance maintenance
and repair.
